This project optimized the current slminfo.org site operated by Enterprise Management Associates of Boulder, Colorado for better placement in search engine rankings. slminfo.org is an on-line learning forum for Service Level Management (SLM). The site was created to facilitate on-line learning and dialog among vendors, IT professionals, service provider operations staff and industry leaders in SLM and to promote the evolution and development of IT-based service management.
This work included a visual review of the site, a review of the HTML code of each page and updates to that code which might have prevented search engines from listing the site previously. Changes to the meta tags in the page's HTML code, also, enhanced the site's listings through the efficient use of keywords, descriptions and changes to site content. In addition, submissions to a wide variety of search engines and directory listings in subject areas relevant to each site’s content were completed.
The project was completed using a combination of technologies including Macromedia's Dreamweaver and Fireworks applications for layout and graphical elements. In addition, hyperSystems used for keyword generation, page optimization and submission to over 100 search engines, VSE's BeFound search engine software. The use of search engine optimization resulted in increased search engine rankings, ensured wider placement and visibility and has significantly increased site traffic.
